Large 8vo., later rebound in half calf gilt over marbled boards, with raised bands to spine and original gilt decorated spine laid on, new endpapers, all edges marbled; [viii] + 550pp, with 17 hand-coloured steel engravings by John Leech, plus numerous black and white wood engravings within text. Pencil name to reverse of frontis plate, plus occasional pencil annotation throughout, including title page. Occasional light foxing, heaviest to prelims and plates, slight stain to top outer corner of first few pages, edges of boards a little rubbed, tiny splits to sides of spine ends. Good overall.
